The fall semester is coming to an end soon, with final exams and essays waiting around the corner. Some students lock in and study as much as they can, while others play games with their friends and cackle and scream at them. Either way, we’re all going through that last grind to wrap up this semester.
From final presentations to written tests, everyone’s got something they need to work on before the end of classes. I have a healthy variety of things to do for finals: 3 exams, 2 research papers, and 2 presentations. Actually…Now that I wrote that out, it doesn’t seem like the healthiest mix to me anymore. While I’m worried about my performance on all of these final projects and tests, I haven’t felt the crushing weight of my anxiety yet. For now, I’ve been working on small assignments and playing some new games that I got. I recently downloaded Pokémon TCG Pocket and let me tell you how addicting and frustrating it is at the same time.
Your face as you're curious about Pokémon TCG Pocket.
The good thing about this game is that it isn’t “pay to win,” and it gives me a little dopamine rush with each card pack opening. It’s also like card collecting, but without needing actual money to buy cards or physical space in your home to keep your collections. But the frustrating part is playing against other people because sometimes you’re up against players who stall on purpose. From time to time, you might mess up and blunder the rest of the match. Maybe you’ll end up in a fight against someone who’s leagues better than you. Nevertheless, the game is still a pretty chill way to pass the time, and I recommend it! But whatever games you play or activities you do to relax or procrastinate, don’t forget to study hard too! Pass your classes and get your credits!
Speaking of classes, if you remember our blog at the start of the fall, we talked about feelings of unease about entering this semester. We mentioned class registration, which we all felt the rush and anxiety from. I applied for e-permits this semester to take classes my home college didn’t have but other colleges offered. Though it was stressful for me because it was my first semester registering for classes outside of my home college, I can now relax knowing I got the courses I need, but I hope everyone else can get theirs amid the rush too! And in that last blog, we also discussed the shift to colder weather. It’s chilly now, plus the trees are shedding their leaves and more people are wearing coats and sweaters. I hope that we manage to get snow at some point this winter, though we might not get it due to climate change. But snow or not, we can still find ways to have fun this season. Cozy up, enjoy some hot chocolate, and binge shows (like Arcane 👀) or watch streams (like CaseOh or Vtubers like Ironmouse!) while
you can!
Don’t forget to take care of yourself and indulge yourself during these last few weeks of classes, as finals loom. Sure, you can hold sleepless night sessions of studying and completing projects to pass your classes but don’t forget that a long sleep and a healthy breakfast (or a cup of coffee or tea, if you prefer) will also help you succeed. You all
got this!!
